A company without the licences it is required to hold can be shut down, fined or held liable in court for damage to others. We find out which ones you need and obtain them.

Municipal operating permit
Issued by the city hall, it allows a shop, factory, farm, service provider or association to operate at a given address.
Fire department certificate
A certificate from the fire department stating that the premises have the fire safety equipment and measures the activity requires.
Health authority permit
The municipal health registration (CMVS) is required for businesses that handle medicines, cosmetics, food, cleaning products or health services, or anything else that could put public health at risk.

Signage licence (CADAN)
CADAN is the city register of signs. Any sign visible from the street has to be registered with the city hall, and falls into one of these types:
I – identifying sign: names the business at its own premises;
II – advertising sign: carries advertising and stands away from the premises;
III – special sign: cultural, electoral, educational or real-estate purposes;
IV – advertising on street furniture, under its own rules;
V – cooperation sign, under its own rules.
Public space permit (TPU)
A company that wants to use a public street, pavement or other city-owned space, including tables and chairs on the pavement or equipment above or below the street, must apply for a Permit of Use (TPU).

What are the articles of association?
The legal document that sets up a company: its name, address, partners and the rest of its details.
How do I choose my company's tax regime?
It takes a tax and financial plan: for your line of business, which regime means less tax and more profit. One of our accountants works it out and gives you the plan.
What is an MEI?
The individual micro-entrepreneur: a simplified form for people starting out, with monthly revenue up to R$ 6,750 and at most one registered employee.
What are ME and EPP?
Size categories that cap annual revenue: up to R$ 360,000 a year for an ME, up to R$ 4.8 million for an EPP.
How long does opening a company take?
Once we file the application, the company number and the articles of association are usually ready within 48 hours.
Can I open a company with a poor credit record?
Yes. Nothing prevents it, although banks may be harder to deal with when you ask for working capital.
What is the deadline for the company number?
It depends on the state registry and the city. We tell you the expected time for your case before we file the application, and keep you posted until the number is issued.
Can a civil servant open a company?
Yes, but not as the managing partner. Another partner manages the company and you hold shares only.
My taxpayer number has a restriction with the Federal Revenue. Can I still open a company?
First we clear the restriction with the Federal Revenue; once it is cleared, the company can be opened.
Which types of company can I open?
There are several: individual micro-entrepreneur (MEI), sole trader, single-member limited company, limited company and others. Ask us and we will tell you which one fits.
Which legal form should I choose?
It depends on revenue, the number of partners, employees and more. Tell us your situation and an accountant will advise you.
I am just starting out. Which type should I open?
With monthly revenue up to R$ 6,750 and at most one employee, we usually suggest the MEI, as long as your activity is allowed under it.
Can I register the company at my home address?
Yes, if the work is done online and the city hall (and in some cases the state treasury) approves the location.
I live in another city or state. Can you still open my company?
Yes. We open companies in any city or state in Brazil.
I changed my name when I married but did not update it with the Federal Revenue.
The partner's ID must match the Federal Revenue record, so it has to be updated before we can file the company.
